Mr Clark

I have this weekend been reading with dismay news stories that the NHS is planning for a ‘no deal brexit’ and essentially running out of medicines.

In the 21st century, and in the year of the 70th anniversary of the NHS, I find this to be utterly disgraceful that a U.K. Government has led us into this position.

I currently hold the Conservative party totally responsible for the mess in which this Country finds itself.

You seem to be a voice of reason in a Cabinet otherwise comprised of individuals whose vanity, ideology and arrogance appears to outweigh their competence and fitness for public office. At a time where the so called official opposition is in a state of paralysis.

Currently, the Government demonstrates no plan. There is no clear agreement in sight and I cannot comprehend a U.K. Government that can honestly view that it is in the interest of the U.K. population to take this country into a ‘no deal’ scenario.

I urge you, particularly in the upcoming Chequers meeting, to be a strong voice for pragmatism and a solution that delivers an outcome based, not on ideology and nationalism, but on the interests of the U.K. economy, the security and prosperity of the peoples of the UK and Europe, and the values of the peoples of the U.K., including tolerance, justice, fairness and welcoming of people from other parts of the globe.

My personal view is that the U.K. should remain in the EU. But we should have a Peoples Vote, whether to leave the EU on terms negotiated by the Government, whether to remain in the EU, or whether to leave the EU but maintain membership of the EEA.

This is not a decision for the Conservative party. This is a decision for the people of the U.K. (including those who choose to live elsewhere in Europe and those whose nationality is not British but who choose to make their life in the U.K.)

Kind regards

Simon Barker
